The week that was - stopping to smell the roses

I've come to the conclusion that I'm a terrible photographer. I have these wonderful photos in my head, but the reality seldom lives up to my expectations.

Last weekend was very much about being out in the sunshine, in the backyard.
Saturday: (stay tuned for progress shots of the veggie patch, which is getting there (very) slowly)

Sunday:

This past week has been about taking it easy, and having plenty of time at home after the silly season. Apart from poor C that is, who had to go back to work. It's been lovely to spend cool mornings in the backyard, pottering in the garden and playing, rather than the chaotic mornings that most weekdays consist of.

Monday: why give a child toys, when they can be entertained all afternoon with half a dozen balloons?

Tuesday: Relief from the heat

Wednesday: Gotta be environmentally conscious: recycling Monday's balloons into balloon people (and yes, for those of you who are extra observant, most of the balloons have angry faces. Hence Josh's expression).

Thursday: for the love of ice cream

Other highlights for the week include Riley developing a new meaning to the word chaos:

and my first sprouts of basil emerging from the soil:

All in all, the first week of 2010 was delightful. Hope yours was the same!
